The day began with a cold chill in the air and a car covered in ice.
Running late for work George quickly started his car and began scrapping the ice off his windshield. Everything was going great until he tried to close the door. The door latch was frozen so his door wouldn’t shut.
In a rush, George contemplated what to do deciding to take a tow strap and tie his door shut.
In hindsight, not the brightest idea, but it let him get to work.
George was hoping and praying once his car warmed up that the door latch would unfreeze and work properly again.
The drive to work was filled with a twisty windy road. George’s arm felt like it was going to fall off from holding his door shut with the tow strap.
If his latch didn’t start working, then he was going to call Lombardi Auto Body and have them pick his car up and take it to the shop to fix the latch.
After George arrived at work 45 minutes later, his car had warmed up enough that the latch started working properly!
What to Do if your Car Door Latch is Frozen
At Lombardi Auto Body, we don’t recommend driving with a door latch that isn’t working properly – even with a toe strap holding it shut!
Instead, you can always try spraying deicer on the door latch, dumping hot water on the latch or giving us a call at 724-222-3077.
